Primary Focus:
Dr. Washington's primary focus is the study, evaluation, treatment, and management of skin cancers, including melanoma. However, he also treats a variety of other skin conditions.

Mohs Surgery:
Mohs, a surgical treatment for skin cancer which provides very high cure rates, was developed by Frederic E. Mohs at the University of Wisconsin. Although Dr. Mohs first began using chemosurgery some 40 years ago, there are still relatively few medical centers in the country which are equipped to offer this form of treatment. This is because the technique is rather time consuming and requires highly specialized training and personnel.

Dr. Washington became Director of the Mohs and Dermatologic Surgery Unit of The Emory Clinic, as well as Assistant Professor of Dermatology of Emory University School of Medicine in 1989. The Emory Clinic (a part of Emory University's Medical Center) is one of only a few medical facilities in Georgia that offers this treatment.
