Harold B. Levin Lectureship - 2007 Guest Speaker: Madeleine Duvic, M.D. Madeleine Duvic, M.D., is a Professor of Internal Medicine and Dermatology and is also the Deputy Chairman of the Department of Dermatology at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. She received her medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine and did her residencies in internal medicine and dermatology and a fellowship in geriatrics at Duke before joining the staff at UT Medical School in 1984. She was the Section Head and acting chairman of the M.D. Anderson Department of Dermatology from 1985 to 2002. Her research focuses on the translational research, the molecular pathogenesis and immunology of T cell mediated disorders such as cutaneous lymphomas, psoriasis, and alopecia areata, and skin cancers. She is the PI of the National Alopecia Areata Registry funded by the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS) and a past recipient of a K24 Mid-Career Award to mentor in cutaneous oncology. She is also involved in the clinical drug development of agents targeting cutaneous lymphomas, melanoma, and other skin cancer including retinoids, histone deacetylase inhibitors, targeted antibodies and fusion toxin. Dr. Duvic has served as the Principal Investigator on over 70 clinical research studies in cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL), melanoma and AIDS-related skin disease as well as authored over 300 peer-reviewed articles. She is also serving on the board of directors of the American Academy of Dermatology and is Vice-President Elect of the Society of Investigative Dermatology. She practices Dermatology and Internal Medicine in Houston, Texas where she has lived for 25 years. |
