Patients are asked to arrive at the Emory Clinic, Building A, Suite 1100,
1st floor, Dept. of Dermatology, 1365 Clifton Road, NE, Atlanta, GA 30322
by 7:30 a.m. Local
directions to the Emory Clinic, Dermatology can be downloaded and
provided to patients. A link to MapQuest®
has also been provided to assist with more specific travel directions.
We are able to accommodate up to 6 patients per Grand Rounds session.
Patient’s Information/Instructions
is an informative description of the Grand Rounds process. After patient
presentations, a discussion of each case takes place immediately following
in the Brown Auditorium of the Emory Clinic, Bldg. A. The comments from
the audience regarding the case are then compiled and relayed via e-mail
or telephone to the referring physician.
Protocols of the cases must be submitted online
or faxed (404-778-3337) to the Chief Resident by Tuesday on the week of Grand Rounds. Please provide
a contact office number or e-mail. Brief patient information regarding
history, histology/pathology interpretations and laboratory data should
be included in the protocols. For HIPPA purposes, there should be no patient
identifying elements on the protocol. Upon receipt of the request/protocol,
the Chief Resident will reply with a scheduled Grand Rounds date for the
patient. It is then the referring physician’s responsibility to
contact the patient with the scheduled date.
Pathology slides should be rushed via FEDEX OVERNIGHT to the Department
of Dermatopathology Attention: Drs. Al Solomon, Rob Morris or Amy Reisenhauer
at least 48 hours prior to patient presentation (see Instructions
for Sending Histology Slides). Digital images of the histology will
be taken and presented to the audience in Brown auditorium during patient
discussions.
A helpful Grand Rounds Scheduling
Checklist is posted detailing scheduling items.
