Emory Dermatology Residency Training Program
Welcome to the Emory Dermatology Residency Program!
Welcome to the Emory Dermatology Residency Program! Our training program focuses on training a diverse cohort of future dermatologists who aspire to become local, regional or international leaders in the field of dermatology. It is our mission to support and train our residents to achieve maximum potential of excellence in patient care through service, education, research, and advocacy. Graduates will be poised to provide competent and compassionate dermatologic care to all patients with dignity, respect, and professionalism.
At Emory Dermatology, trainees will find an unparalleled training experience in the vibrant city of Atlanta. The Atlanta metropolitan area has nearly 6 million people and is the cultural and economic center of Georgia. Atlanta is a livable city with a wide variety of urban or suburban living choices centrally located to the clinical training sites. Residents participate in the care of patients within a number of clinical settings including at tertiary referral center (Emory University Hospital and associated clinics), the Veterans Administration Medical Center, a specialized pediatric hospital (Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta), and Grady Memorial Hospital (the largest public hospital in the state of Georgia). The diversity of Atlanta’s population is reflected in our patient populations. Another highlight of Emory is the opportunity for training in teledermatology. Emory dermatology residents have significant exposure to teledermatology during residency in both the outpatient and inpatient setting to help prepare them for the changing landscape of medicine after training.
Our over 20 full time faculty members are distinguished clinicians, educators, leaders, advocates, and researchers who remain committed to resident education and mentoring. Unique to Emory, the main clinical facilities share the same campus with the undergraduate college, School of Public Health, School of Nursing, Business School, Law School and are steps away from the headquarters of the Centers for Disease Control, allowing for a breadth of potential collaborative ventures. Additionally, Emory Dermatology is just one of the many residency training programs within Emory Graduate Medical Education (GME), one of the largest medical training programs in the country set in one of the Southeast’s leading academic medical centers. Via Emory GME, there are many unique opportunities to collaborate and participate in specialized training tracks, such as tracks focusing on ethics, health care management, global health and more.
Our goal is that all residents experience top-notch training while being afforded the necessary individual mentoring and departmental support to develop into leaders within their chosen part of the field of dermatology.
